RIO-
Rio is a 1 year old male Yellow Labrador.
HISTORY: He was injured jumping from a boat at the lake.
EXAMINATION: The owner had applied a field splint to stabilize his leg so he could be transported to Prescott Animal Hospital.
DIAGNOSIS: A comminuted oblique diaphyseal fracture of his left tibia and fibula.
TREATMENT: Surgical repair with open reduction and a Type 2A External Skeletal Fixator (ESF) apparatus and internal Cerclage wires.
RESULTS: After 12 weeks of walking with the device, pain management and multiple rechecks and bandage changes. The bone had healed and the ESF was removed.
FUTURE OUTLOOK: Rio is back to normal and still enjoys trips to his favorite lake.

He is a 12 year old neutered male Poodle.
HISTORY: Progressive weight loss, diarrhea, vomiting, and anorexia.
PRESENTATION: Painful abdomen, hunched back, lethargy.
DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS: Gastroenteritis, GI foreign body, Giardia, Pancreatitis, Cancer, Open.
PRELIMINARY DIAGNOSIS: Suggestive of Pancreatitis (X-rays, In-house Bloodwork, Fecal).
ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSIS: Confirmation of Pancreatitis and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) using
TLI and Spec cPL (bloodwork for pancreatitis), abdominal ultrasound, endoscopic biopsy.
TREATMENT: Pancreatitis and IBD - Supportive care including intravenous nutritional, pain medication,
anti-vomiting, and anti-diarrhea medications, and special prescription diet.
OUTCOME: Full recovery after 13 days of treatment.
