Rio is a 1 year old male Yellow Labrador retriever. He was injured jumping from a boat at the lake. The owner had applied a field splint to stabilize his leg so he could be transported to Prescott Animal Hospital.  he had suffered a comminuted oblique diaphyseal fracture of his left tibia and fibula.  Surgical repair with open reduction and a Type 2A External Skeletal Fixator (ESF) apparatus and internal Cerclage wires.  After 12 weeks of walking with the device, pain management and multiple rechecks and bandage changes.  The bone had healed and the ESF was removed. Rio is back to normal and still enjoys trips to his favorite lake.
